The GREEN NIGHT, an event dedicated to sustainableliving, was held in Rovereto on June 1st, 2019.
On that occasion, FBKco-organized the 1 day-campaign "Electrical and electronic equipment: theyoung generations call you to "collect". The event was part ofthe e-Mining@School RAEECYCLO and InnoWEEE WEEERRobots awareness campaigns,which involve students from Trentino high schools and the students of theGandhi primary school in the city of Rovereto. Citizens were invited to bringtheir WEEE and EEE to be classified, collected and addressed appropriately.
Students of HighSchools and FBK researchers animated Piazza Damiano Chiesa with three islandsdedicated to the reuse, repair and correct disposal of small Electrical andElectronic Equipment.
The islands where organized as follows:
REUSE. Scientific laboratories (withhelp of Mindshub and AT lab) demonstrated the constructive reuse of electroniccomponents. Caritas Rovereto and Associazione Share Onlus allowed citizens tobring electronic equipment that is still functional but in disuse, so that itcan be resold or donated to those in need.
REPAIR. Thanks to repair cafes,repairers of small electrical and electronic equipment (tablets, radios, smallappliances ...) showed how to prolong the life of these objects and safeguardthe environment. Citizens could indicate mobile phones, tablets and laptopsthat have a residual value to the refurbishing and sale (by GreenIdeaTechnologies). The corresponding value contributed to the WEEERRobots campaign.
RECYCLING. A temporary MaterialCollection Center, curated by Dolomiti Ambiente, was in place, where citizenscould correctly bring and dispose of what is no longer possible to repair andreuse.
GAMES FOR CHILDREN: an areadedicated to children where they were able to play with students, listen tostories and watch videos so they learned to treat electronic waste not asusual.
