Cava de’ Tirreni
Pilot System:

a city challenge

A new
Circular Economy
pattern applied
to an urban area

This pilot system aims to increase citizens’ awareness of the sustainable disposal of WEEE and the possibility of extending the life of used EEE, incentivizing the adoption of more sustainable behaviour.

  WHERE

In the entire city of Cava de’ Tirreni, specifically in strategic locations within the territory, such as schools, supermarkets and public places.

  FOR WHOM

The entire population will be involved (almost 53,000 inhabitants), including families and school communities.

  HOW

WEEE and used EEE will be collected separately: the first through a system of smart bins; the latter through a recovery system for their reuse. The containers will be equipped with a user recognition system that will allow to provide environmental information relating to the delivery and to implement a reward mechanism, designed according to the characteristics of the users and the local availability.

  WHEN

The project started in 2018 and will end in 2021.
The trial will last 18 months.

  WHO

ENEA will coordinate the activities. The main partners will be the Municipal Administration, Metellia Servizi LLC, Green Idea Technology and ECODOM.
